Note: Write and Show has many features for you to invite editors (people you engage to assist in improving your book) to make suggested additions or suggested deletions. You can approve certain people with special passwords to have access to be able to go to your author area for doing suggested additions or suggested deletions. For most authors, using professional "editors" is a very significant and needed part of the writing and publishing process. See the online "how to" to find out how you approve and set up other people to be able to "edit" your book.

When the "Mark out" feature is used it allows an editor (which might, of course, be the author) to designate any text which in the editor's opinion should be deleted. After employing this button, when the Save button is clicked, the displayed book page shows that text, which was selected, now to be "greyed out" and with a line marked through it.

Testing and usage: You can highlight any type you wish to have "marked to delete" ( text that you wish to have a line through it and to show in grey font). Then, click the "Mark out" button. Or, you can first click the "Marked out" button prior to typing your text and then again afterwards. If you decide to not to delete the suggested text, you can just remove the code which defines it (<del> and </del>) and upon saving again, it will return to a normal display.

The other button used by editors is the "Suggest Add" button, which displays any text that an editor (or it could be the author doing their own editing) has suggested to be inserted as necessary new material in a special blue font. How to use the "Suggest Add" button is discussed in it's own section.

How text appears when the "Mark out" is used in the write panel:

Quote:
<del>Text designated as marked to cut.</del>

How a "Mark out" selection shows in your book display:

This example illustrates both the "Suggest" and the "Mark out:"
