Doing a video gallery in your book is quite easy.

You can use the Gallery chapter pages or we can create a special Video gallery chapter. Just request it from your Write and Show tech support person.

This is done using the Thumb button feature. While you might know that the primary use for Thumb is for still photos and still photo galleries (and that is the most natural application) it is also wonderful for creating a YouTube video gallery.

You need to have small "thumbnail" still picture for your Thumb, to display a hint of what the video will be.

a. You can simply utilize the jpg's from youtube which they have to display their own gallery presentaion..
b. Just go to the the account of the YouTube member where the video that you will be using is located (search for it)...
c. Then right click on the thumb and save their thumb jpg to your hard drive.

d, Next host that (like on photobucket).

e. You can next captured the shortcut to the video right there on the same page (on YouTube, where the thumbnails are).

Putting your Thumb entries into your Gallery pages:

a. Just use the Thumb feature as is described in the Thumb help pages.

b. When you begin a new row, you must separate that video from the previous ones by using the "clear" button.

c. When you start a new video page you start by by using the "true space" button. If you look at the code you will see where those steps have been taken.

Example needed here.

The reason you need to do that "clear" step: While the new video you added did go on the next row... notice that its spacing is different (closer to the previous row than the second row is from the first). If you had added an additional video (without doing that "clear" action") it would have appeared down a line or two from your first one on that row. The "clear" button keeps them all evenly aligned.[/quote]

Tips --

There is some work involved, but...

1. once you create one thumb ... you can just keep pasting that one over and over in your write and show editing panel.

2. In advance, get all your thumb jpg files you will be needing from the various youtube pages by right clicking and saving to your computer.

3. Be sure to name them specifically like you are going to caption your thumb (so you can keep track) and then host them. Use descriptive file names.

4. Then with your Write and Show page in one tab (or window) and your youtube video thumbnail page open in another tab (or window) you can just right click to "copy shortcut" for the url to the video and paste that in your "copied" code in writeandshow.

5. Then paste in your url to your hosted jpg (maybe have your photobucket page open in another tab to make it easy to get those thumb jpg urls).
