Many times you will want to add a page in between existing pages.

A. Simply write the new page as a new post and title it (for now) where you want the page to eventually go. For example, call it Page 2a and Page 2b (in sequence indicating wherever you wish to insert them).

Quote:
Needed info: Every page as written shows the time first written. That time never changes irrespective of how many times you edit a page. But, a time stamp can be changed, if you have a need to change it... and that is what we do manually to make a newly created page be inserted where we want it to be.

B. After the new pages are written, you can make them appear in the correct location where you want them by changing the date and time to be later than the page going before and earlier than the page going after.

Here is how to do it:

The following illustration is for adding a page between an existing page 1 and page 2. It will be titled (for now) Page 1a.

1. When editing a page, at the bottom, is the date and time stamp when that page was created. For this example, I show changing just the seconds, because that is all that is needed in the examples, but you could be changing the date, the hour, minutes or seconds, whatever is necessary to make the new entry in proper sequence.

Editing page 1 shows this time stamp.

Editing page 2 shows this time stamp.

2. For this example, we have created a new page (post) and titled it Page 1a.
It's time stamp as it was created (prior to saving or after, it doesn't matter) shows as follows.

Then we changed the timestamp information (for our new page 1a) so that it will now be after page 1, but before page 2. Notice it is in seconds.

If you go to your book, you wil see where the new pages are now appearing in the proper order

Changing the time stamp is easy. Sometimes pages are separated by days. You could just change the new one to a day following (as long as it was prior to the next one in sequence), but working with seconds is very effective and so are recommended as the easiest to work with. What time designation you work with doesn't matter... the results are the same.

3. The final step is to change the names of the pages. Just edit the page names by clicking on Pages then Full pages. Starting at the beginning (its at the bottom on this display) scan up until you find the first inserted page. Click the Edit button and change the Page title. For example from Page 2a to 3 and from Page 2b to 4.

Then continue through the pages changing them all accordingly (the old 3 becomes 5, the old 4 becomes 6, etc).

Blunt Force Reformatting

This alternate way is to format your entire chapter page by page.

a. Start with page 1. Select and then cut from a selected bottom point and then Save that page.

b. You now have a complete shortened page 1 (and the rest is in your clipboard).

c. Open page two and paste what you just cut into the top of page two. Then save it (so you don't lose it.) You now have a very long page 2.

d. Repeat on page 2, step b ( what you did on page 1), again finding your new bottom point.. and cutting.. then saving your new shortened page 2.

e. Just as in step "c" above, open page 3 and paste in what' is in the clipboad into the top of page 3 and save your new really long page 3.

f. Now repeat step b, but with page 3.

g. Continue until finished.

f. Go back and straighten out things that need to be in iframes.

Sometimes it's more convenient to use the Hide feature

Oftentimes text you added to a page is really more of an addendum and doesn't warrant a new page. The Hide feature is perfect for such a situation. This will but a nice link on the page right before your "addendum" text: :

Quote:

Click for more of this page.
use back button to return

Then the addtional text (or images) shows only when someone clicks the link. They use the browser back button to return.

Here is a link to the Hide (and Click for More) feature:
