The way Write and show works (by default) is to automatically indent the first line of a paragraph. This is quite convenient when writing a lot of paragraphs like a novel or texual non-fiction, because the indented first line is the accepted publlishng standard.

When first line indention is a problem

When you

1. ...are presenting some text as a headline.
2. ...are showing a transcript (or any kind of a script like for a play or skit).
3. ...want a particular paragraph styled with the first line un-indented.
4. ... ..make a list (and you want all items to be un-indented including the first one..
