Button name: Font

Button function and usage: This allows you to have customized fonts of any style (well really just those that people can see in their browsers), color and size.

Font changes are not meant for the total text of your book.. but instead for special effects. If you were wanting to change the entire book's font... The Write and Show support staff can do that globally. But, this is not something to be done without pause because some fonts don't display well on all browsers..

When you punch in the Font code it looks like this. The computer word for font style is "face." Colors are changed by simply typing in a "color word." Scroll to the bottom of this instructional post to learn about the wide range of color words and how easy it is to select what you like.

Quote:
<font face="impact" size="7" color="black">Replace this with your text, adjust color, size 1 to 7, or face style. When finished with content, click font button again.</font>

The way "it comes" the type style (or face) is "impact" That's a font name.

If you wanted to change the font face (style) to "Comic Sans Ms" (and the size to 5 and the color to blue) your Font code would look like this:

Quote:
<font face="Comic Sans MS" size="5" color="blue">

Testing and usage: The Font button can be used two ways:

a. Highlight some text and click the Font button. when you save, it will chang the font of the text you have selected . Be sure to remove the instructional text which is there to guide you and change the font face, color and size to what you would rather have.

b. Or, you can just click the Font button and after backspacing out the instructional text, type in (or paste in) whatever you would like to be enclosed. Change the font face, size and color if you prefer. Then click the button a second time to close the font and then click Save to see your text in your chosen font display when you exit to the book.

3. Total font support.

There are only fifteen font styles (out of literally thousand available) that you can count on being on all computers. Only font styles which are loaded onto a visitor's computer will show in their browsers... so you have to be quite careful (all webpage designers do) so that you only use fonts that you know everyone can read.

We give examples for all the styles we recommend... but will caution that although any font would be supported you are limited by what people have in their own computers. Just because you can see a font displayed on your computer only means that you have that font. You want fonts that everyone can see.

Here we give a display of various fonts, plus a list of what one's are available.

http://writeandshow.com/helpfiles/fonts.htm

Pay attention to the list we provide and use the names which we know will show up in everyone's brower (and look good)

For example, you don't want to use the font called "courier." if you were going for a typewriter-like look. That is an old font and it breaks up on the new computers (looks fuzzy). Instead, use "courier new" typed exactly that way with the two words. It produces the same type typewriter font.. but is clean and clear, even at large sizes.

About color:

Here are some of the color words that you can use to change the "Font" color: brown, red, blue, green andyellow, but there are a lot more than that available. It's like a box of crayolas. We have prepared a full listing of color words. You can just copy (highlight select and then right click and copy) any of those color words and paste them in the appropriate place in your font code. The color chart is all text, created by using these same color words (no images at all). Here is the color chart:

or go to

http://writeandshow.com/answers/viewtopic.php?t=29

to see the chart in a nice scrolling window (makes it easy to use). If you see then on your screen, you know they will work in browsers.
