Wrtie and Show automatically builds your table of contents from information you provide about the chapters. You don't have to have a table of contents. Some books don't require them. If you don't need a table of contents you can read in another topic how to make a chapter (the table of contents is treated like a "chapter") not visible or ask your tech support assistant to do that for you.

How to build your Table of Contents.

A. Login to admin panel with username and password..

Your admin panel is where you have been posting your book content.

This is always (http://xgj.com/yourbookid/admin.php) of course, put in your own book id.

NOTE: If you have not "logged out" recently, you can access it from any page in your book by clicking on the "edit" link at the bottom of the page.

B. Select Chapter Settings.

C. Select "Chapter" tab where descriptions are desired.
(Selected Chapter will be shown highlighted with white tab, while others are grey).

D. Select the "Display" tab.

E. Complete the two form fields as follows:

1. "Brief Chapter description": This is a teaser description which appears at the top of each chapter in the book, when the chapter is being viewed by a reader.

2. "Contents description": This is the description which appears both in your Table of Contents and in a column to the right of your chapter. At the end of the "Contents description" type this:
Code:
<div></div>

Here is an example:

Quote:
Here is an example long description for Chapter 2 <div></div>

The purpose of the

Code:
<div></div>

is to enable this description to be formatted properly in the table of contents listings.

F. Click "Save". Changes appear in online book display.

Now go view your book and click on the "Contents" link at the top. You will see the "Table of Contents" with your latest changes. Your "Table of Contents" entry also appears in the side column to the right of each chapter so the reader can have an quick-glance overview of the chapter.
